WHAT IS MEDITATION?

Meditation is not relaxation but focus.

when you pay attention to the breath or count numbers, you bring your attention to that one thing.

This will focus you in the present moment. As a result you feel relaxed. therefore meditation is focused awareness.

The more you focus your awareness upon the present moment the more you begin to notice. this is because your senses become more hightened or sensitive.

As a result of your senses becoming more hightened you actually begin to feel better, happier and more content.

This is a combination of your nervous system relaxing and your senses becoming aware or noticing more stimuli such as how much more beautiful the world appears. this could also lead to self-discovery such as 'awakening'. 

I have used meditation in my life for over 20 years and have tried many types. I believe from guiding classes, individuals and myself its best to find the best type of meditation for you. 

in fact you could begin with simply listening to frequencies. whether you listen as you walk or you sit with your body relaxed and eyes closed its a great start.
